Mx5 Max5 Racing Donington
What a weekend, Scrutineering at Donington was tight, our camber was out by a fraction, needed to be modified to meet the regs.
Saturday qualifying was always going to be tricky, we only managed to get two dry laps in before the heavens opened, then it was rain, hail and sleet, not the best conditions to be driving a car fast in. But luck was on our side and we qualified on the front row next to Jon Cryer – well done Jon.
Race day was Sunday – first one was in the morning, the car performed like clockwork – unfortunatley so did Jon, pipped by himĀ at the post, his first race win in four years – so pleased for him, well deserved and well driven race, we managed to get 2nd and give the car a good work out.
Race 2 was late on Sunday, the Sun was going down and the clouds were drawing in for another downpour – another door to door race with Jon Cryer was excellent – he has certainly got trouble written all over him for this season, we could notĀ overcome him due to the rain and then the pace car coming out due to cars parking in the gravel, we lost the advantage a little, 2nd place again so all in all a good start to the season – no more electrical issues like last season.
The car is bedding in nicely and we are ready for Anglesey next month……
well done Jon……………………….
