Roddisons Motorsport come from the back of grid to take the win in Race 2.

Paul Roddison had a DNF in race one of the Max5 Championship at Croft on Saturday 28th April, early on the number one car had a gearbox failure and got stuck in 4th gear. Paul had to sit the race out at the hairpin – good viewing point he says.

With no points in the bag – he had two choices – change the box or race back to their Sheffield Head Quarters to get a spare car that had been set up for John Tilsley (not racing this weekend). Paul decided to save time and raced back for the spare car.

Race 2 was in the wet – it had been raining since around 11.00am and by the time it was Max5’s race the track was like a river. Paul had to start from the back of the grid in the spare car – He had also had to do qualifying laps in the wet for the clark of the course.

The race was an epic battle with Roddison working his way up to the front in classic style. Then Roddison & Halliwell playing chess at the front – until out of the hairpin – the move was made on John Halliwell and Paul out dragged him up the start/finish straight.

Not only did this win happen in the wet – but the spare car developed a mis-fire due to ingress of water spray in to the air-filter. Paul constantly had to move off line to keep the filter out of the spray of Halliwell’s car.

Roll on Brands Hatch in two weeks – Gear box rebuild will be required pretty quickly too.
